Mahatma Gandhi is the father of our nation. All the people in India love him.

Mahatma Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869. His father was the Diwan of a small state. Mahatma Gandhi full name was Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi.

At School, he was a very shy boy. His books and lessons were his only friends. He did not play with the boys in his class. After School, he went home and helped his father.

Mohandas married a girl named Kasturi when he was only thirteen years old. At eighteen he went to college. Then he went to England for higher studies.

After four years he become a layer and came back to India. He went to South Africa and worked for the poor Indians there.

In 1914 he came back to India. People called him “Mahatma” Which means a “Great Soul”.

At last on August 15, 1947 India became free.

He worked for the unity of the Hindus and Muslims. Some people did not like this. On January 30, 1948, a young man shot Mahatma Gandhi Dead. The whole world was sad.
