King Bruce and the Spider

Once upon a time, long ago, there was a kingdom named Vijayagarh. The kingdom was ruled by an able king named Bruce. His name and fame were known everywhere at that time. He was a great giver. He was treating all his countrymen with proper care, love, and respect. He was an intelligent administrator and the people of his country were very much pleased with his governance.

He was not only a good ruler but also a great warrior. He was an expert in using all kinds of weapons of war, an expert horseman, and an able general. He had never lost any war on the battlefield. He had defeated all the wicked kings and invaders of that time.

Once another able king named Vidyadatta of Aligarh challenged him to fight on the battlefield. Bruce accepted his challenge and they met at a battlefield in Palasaghata. Both were fierce and both were equal in all strengths. But without any known reason, Bruce lost the battle. To save his life he fled away from the battlefield.

He went inside the nearby jungle to hide from the conquering enemy. While in the jungle he took shelter inside a cave. He was not coming outside of the cave and was performing all his day-to-day activities at night. During the day, while inside the cave, he was observing all the activities around him. One day he observed the activity of a spider minutely. He saw the spider wanted to climb to the top of the cave by making its own cobweb. It was falling many times. But he had not stopped trying, he was sincere in his effort. At last, his constant effort bore fruit. He reached the top of the cave. The king got an idea from the spider.

Afterward, the king started his constant effort to regain his lost glory and kingdom. He regrouped all his lost shoulders. Slowly but steadily, they rebuilt their lost strength. Then one day he challenged Vidyadatta to a duel at the same battlefield Palasaghata. This time Bruce owned the battle and regained his lost glory.
